All about Backpacks - Pack it light, Wear it right!

From school children to busy adults, we've all used backpacks, but we don’t always use them correctly. Wearing a backpack incorrectly can cause neck, shoulder and back pain that can be easily avoided.

Here is what you can do to wear a backpack the right way.

1. Make sure your backpack isn’t too big. Carrying around a big bag can cause it to sway from side to side. The swaying can cause chafing of the bag against your shoulders and back.

2. Always use both shoulder straps. The straps help distribute the weight more evenly, stop the bag from moving side to side when you walk and prevent pain on one side of your body

3. If the backpack has a chest or waist strap-use it. The weight is better distributed, and the straps relieve pressure off of the shoulders

4. Stay away from heavy materials. Although leather bags are stylish, vinyl and canvas are much lighter and more comfortable on your body.

5. Ensure you only take what you need that day. Over-packing your bag makes it heavy and uncomfortable.
